Where it all began

Back in 2015, I had a surgery that kept me housebound. A graphic designer by trade and a highly creative person, I kept myself busy by creating art. I have always loved crafts and creating things through recycled materials. During this time my son and I collected pinecones and wanted to make something out of them for fun. We decided that we'd create owls with the pinecones. Some of the earlier pinecone owls looked a bit rough but still very cute.

While we were creating our masterpieces, I was inspired to go further and decided that our owls were special. We started giving them names of wisdom. Love, Joy, Beauty, Faith, Warm Heart, etc. They became little reminders that we all hold these special gifts of wisdom within our hearts. Because they were made from love and inspired by nature, we called them Inspired Owls.

Each owl was adorned a name of wisdom to inspire the person who received the crafted owl. As we were developing the pinecone owls a story starting brewing within me. I would then journal the ideas that were coming to me. At this time, we decided to sell them at a local craft fair. I developed the name, the story and the meaning behind what it means to be an Inspired Owl. "An emblematic owl born from an impulsive spark of creativity deeply connected to wisdom and intuitive knowledge." Inspired Owls are gifts of wisdom and inspiration. Each unique handcrafted owl is made from nature and adorned a name of wisdom to share and to inspire you. Each owl became an ornament to hang or be placed on a desk or shelf. I also made them into magnets and clips to be placed anywhere you want. I encouraged my customers to gift someone an Inspired Owl adorned a name of wisdom to inspire whoever they gifted it to.

Since 2015, I brought the owls to many craft fairs and sold them in local stores and surrounding towns, which were well received. People were truly inspired by what we created.

There was a time where the project was put on hold due to other obligations. However, during this time I started to draw the owls, starting with pencils, then colored pencils and eventually on my ipad. I created many pieces, including notecards and jewelry with the Inspired Owls as my main focus. You can find some of these images on the first page of the website. In the most recent years is where I dusted off the journal and pieced together the story that I was compelled to share, "The Journey of the Inspired Owl." Along with the story, the Inspired Owls have inspired me to carry their story further by creating artwork and reminding everyone that we are the source of the spark to inspire others.
